Bank of New Zealand, Lambton Quay and Customhouse Quay, Wellington. July 1879
A group of people stand at the front of the bank, some noticing the photographer. A few were too impatient to wait for the end of the photograph, leaving only ghostly figures. One boy stands in three different places before deciding to stand with this back to the camera!
To the right there are two false shop fronts, one signed as a Sailmaker. Barrett's hotel stand closest to the left followed by an Athenaeum (school/library).
Colourised By Brendan Graham 2017 from an original black and white Image courtesy of the Alexander Turnbull Library.
